PROGRAMME

The new hospital Salesi integrates an existing structure, distinguishing itself from the architectonic and functional points of view. The project develops a program dedicated to maternal and child area, becoming a reference about this field for the whole Regional and National Territory.

The volume is made of a curved shape, inferred by the analysis of the contextual morphology. The new hospital is inspired by the imagine of an egg: it will be a place for birth and for new lives, according to this ancient figurative symbology.

The new building stands out through the introduction of innovative and

excellence characteristics, regarding both the architectonical concept, and the clinical practice.

The volume is built combining two different sections, called “plate” and “confinement block”, and each floor has the same layout.

The first sector sets all the diagnosis and medical treatment rooms, the second sets all the confinement rooms and the support services, alternated with meeting and break spaces for visitors and patients and with the voids of the internal courtyards.
